Hottest Toys – Christmas 2018

Christmas shopping is in full swing and here are some of my picks for the hottest toys for Christmas 2018.

LEGO World of Wizards Harry Potter Hogwarts Whomping Willow

My eldest son is obsessed with Harry Potter.  I don’t remember seeing these in previous years, but this one is definitely on my shopping list this year.

This set contains six minifigures: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Seamus Finnigan, Argus Filch and Severus Snape, plus a Hedwig owl figure.

It has three different scenes

  • Whomping Willow which measures over 7” (18cm) high, 7” (20cm) wide and 7” (20cm) deep.
  • Flying Ford Anglia which measures over 1” (5cm) high, 4” (11cm) long and 2” (6cm) wide.
  • Hogwarts castle section measures over 10” (27cm) high, 13” (35cm) wide and 3” (8cm) deep.

Plus this set connects with others in the range.

This is an absolute MUST for any Harry Potter fan!

Hatchimals Hatchibabies Ponette

Hatchimals were big last year, and they’re back again.  A Hatchimal starts life in a spotted egg, and as your child plays with the egg, the hatching process begins. Kids can hear their Hatchibabies moving inside the egg and hear sounds as it starts the hatching process, they will also respond with cute sounds when they listen to you. Each Hatchimal is different and takes a different length of time to hatch, so kids will never know what is going to hatch. Once hatched the Hatchimals Hatchibabies remain babies forever.

Sounds kind of cool and this is another item on the wish list of one of my boys!

Thomas and Friends TrackMaster Thomas and Ace The Racer

Thomas is a favorite with my two youngest boys, especially these TrackMaster ones which are battery operated and run with or without the track.  We haven’t seen this one before.  Perfect for my boys as they also love McQueen.

Crayola Creations Hair Salon Set

Crayola is a well-trusted brand in my home as an easy way kids can explore their creativity, and I can easily wipe up their mess!  The Hair Salon Set takes creativity in the beauty world. Let your kids design their very own hair color just like a real hair salon.  Don’t worry, the colors are temporary and just like all of Crayola’s products it will wash out!

iPlush Giant 160cm Giraffe Plush

Ok, confession time – would I ACTUALLY buy this? No, it’s far too big but I have seen many pictures of baby nurseries with big giraffes and it looks kind of cool.

What interests me with iPlush products is that they have an inflatable bladder inside rather than stuffing, so their plush fur can be removed and placed in the washing machine. The iPlush range is super soft to the touch, is eco-friendly due to the lack of stuffing and perfect for allergy sufferers. How cool is that!

Flower Fairies Fairy Door

Oh, I love this.  We’ve just started a “magical garden” at home, and this would be perfect! Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use!

Explorer Boat Wooden Sandpit with Canopy

As our Christmas falls in Summer, every year I like to buy at least one outdoor activity.  This year I’m considering a sand pit (*shudders* at the thought of sand EVERYWHERE!!!!). Yep, I could go for one of those plastic shells but with four kids wanting to play this looks perfect.  There’s a seat for everyone and a storage compartment for all of the buckets and spades.

BIG Traffic Light Toy

A few months ago I picked my youngest two boys up from childcare, and they had just taken delivery of one of these.  The kids loved it.  Who’d have thought such a simple (and relatively inexpensive) item could provide hours of entertainment!  This one is also on my list.

12 Foot HyperJump 2 Springless Trampoline

Who doesn’t love a trampoline!  This one I just had to include as it currently comes with a $230 saving!  This is an awesome price for a springless trampoline; I paid a similar amount for a traditional style trampoline from one of the department stores a few years back.  The main benefit of springless – it’s much much safer!

LEGO Duplo T-Rex Tower – 10880

Dinosaurs are all the rage with my kids at the moment – I think we can thank Andy and his prehistoric adventures 🙂  This Lego Duplo Jurassic World set will be a big hit with your dinosaur-loving little one!

About the retailer – Toy Universe

All links in this post go to an online retailer called Toy Universe.

Toy Universe is Australia’s No 1 Online Only Kids Toy Store. They have 1000’s of toys from big brands as well as unique toys, games, and puzzles not found elsewhere. Many of the toys are massively reduced!

Toy Universe offers AfterPay and ZipPay on all products.  Shipping around Australia is a flat $9.95 (excluding bulky items), and they ship to New Zealand and the USA.

This year with the absence of Geoffrey the Giraffe’s store Toy Universe is my go-to online retailer for all my kid’s toys.
