In the Kitchen – BBQ Meatballs


500g minced steak

250g sausage mince

1 egg

1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs

1 onion

1 teaspoon curry powder

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

salt and pepper

Combine the mince, egg, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, curry powder, parsley, salt and pepper.  Mix well, form into a ball.  Put into a baking dish and bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally.  Pour off any fat, pour sauce over meatballs, return to oven for 15-20 minutes.  Basting at times.



1/2 cup water

1/2 cup tomato sauce

2 tablespoons vinegar

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons fruit chutney

Combine in a saucepan, stir until sugar has dissolved, bring to the boil.  Remove from heat.
