The Sunshine Bloggers Award is given to bloggers who inspire positivity and creativity in the blogging community.
Through my own blog I hope to show others who are going through divorce or the break down of a relationship that it is possible to bounce back and make a whole new life for yourself. In addition I am also a mentor to other bloggers and it was through my Blog Mentor Program that I met Jessica from Sane Momma who nominated me for this award.
Thank you Jessica.
I would also like to also acknowledge Michelle from Mum from the Heart who nominated me for this award about 6 months ago and I never found the time to write my reply 🙂
Thank you Michelle
Ok, so here are the rules for the award:
- Thank blogger(s) who nominated you in the blog post and link back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
- Nominate new bloggers to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or in your blog.
Here’s what Jessica asked me…….
Why did you decide to become a blogger?
It was never in my plan nor my idea to become a blogger. A friend of a friend had read some long Facebook posts I was putting up around the time of my divorce and said I should become a writer and offered to set everything up for me. Even after I had written a few posts I still wasn’t sure if it was for me. It wasn’t until my website was re-developed several months later that I started to love blogging and decided to make it a full time job.
Has your blog always been the same niche, style, or platform? What has changed since the beginning?
I started with a WordPress hosted site. Then I moved to a self hosted site. It started purely to document my Divorce but has now evolved into a parenting/lifestyle blog.
What is your favourite movie or genre and why?
Romantic comedies because it’s nice to have a little escape from reality from time to time.
Aside from blogging, do you have any other hobbies?
I’m a single Mum and I have 4 kids, I run my own business, blog and study. It doesn’t leave a lot of time for anything else, lol. But when I’m working on my own I love to listen to music so I guess music would be considered a hobby.
Blogging is hard work. What motivates you to keep writing?
The stories I have to tell, the crazy thoughts I have in my mind. The people who reach out and say Thank you are also my motivation.
Describe your dream vacation?
One day I’d love to take my kids to Disneyland.
What do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment?
Rebuilding my life after divorce. There were many stages where I didn’t think I would be here but here we are 🙂
What is your favourite post on your blog?
Heartbreak because of who I wrote it for.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Pay off the debts of all the people who mean the most to me and start a not for profit organisation to help women navigate divorce and life after divorce.
What can make you smile, even on your worst day?
My kids because no matter what they are always smiling and happy.
If you could buy one thing, regardless of cost, right now, what would it be?
Hmmm, I don’t have a lot but I don’t want for much – “things” don’t mean much to me but I guess as I write this if I could buy anything it would be a new computer because the one I’m using is old, slow, clunky and small.
So I’m nominating some members of my Blog Mentor Program for the Sunshine Bloggers Award:
Miriam from But Still Breathing
Shona from Thriving Sistas
Kathleen from Life by Kathleen
Julie from Julie Doherty ND
LeeAnn from Cottage Lovely Home
Jemm from Little Adventures
Sasha from Such a Time as This
And the 11 questions I would like to ask are:
- Summer or winter?
- What is your favourite song and why?
- What does your perfect day look like?
- What advice would you give to your 10 year old self?
- Would you rather visit your past self or future self and why?
- What makes you smile?
- What is your go to meal?
- What is the best piece of blogging advice you have received?
- Are you happy?
- What is your favourite quote?
- What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Can’t wait to read your reply bloggers!
